DC Restaurant Week is right around the corner and it got me thinking about all the summer deals that fabulous restaurants around the city already offer. Restaurant Week is a great time to try some really great restaurants that might not always be in the budget, but it can also be a little stressful. Between attempting to figure out which restaurant is the right choice (I suggest using Capital Spice’s awesome guide) and figuring it out in time to make reservations, the whole process can be rather daunting. Nothing against Restaurant Week, in fact, three out of the four picks below are participating, but I’m over being stressed out. So, I came up with a list of some of my favorite deals in the city. No one-month-out reservations necessary. Take your stress elsewhere. xo – KC
Rooftop Menu @ El Centro D.F.
The only thing more enjoyable than great Mexican Food on a fabulous rooftop on a perfect summer evening is enjoying Chef Richard Sandoval’s delightful rooftop menu with a frozen margarita in hand. El Centro’s D.F.’s rooftop menu is festive and served from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. And if that didn’t convince you to pull out your sombrero and head on over, El Centro D.F.’s handcrafted frozen margaritas are only $4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Salud!
Update! Beginning July 30th, El Centro D.F. will ALSO be serving a bottomless tequila brunch for $35 a person. It looks like brunch and open bar just become completely synonymous.
Lunch @ Bibiana
For those of you who work by Bibiana (located on New York Avenue near Metro Center), I suggest you start practicing a more European lunch. The Italian restaurant (home of DC Modern Luxury’s 2010 Chef of the Year) is offering a $15 lunch menu that includes one of their homemade pastas, a glass of Italian wine, and a scoop of Bibiana’s seasonal sorbet flavor of the day. And in case your company’s policy frowns upon the Euro lunch, go for the Italian soda.
Hangover Washington @ POV
One of my favorite rooftops is POV, the White House-adjacent terrace at the W Hotel. And since I LOVE a good brunch, I couldn’t be more excited about POV’s Hangover Washington deal. For $29.99 you get bottomless Bellinis, a pre-fixed brunch menu, and the sounds of a fabulous DJ. Loud music may be the last thing your hangover needs on Sunday afternoon, but a couple Bellinis should be able to take care of that.
Three-Course Dinner @ 1789 Restaurant
One of my FAVORITE dishes at this year’s Best of Washingtonian Party was the Fried Peach Pie from 1789 Restaurant. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out that the Georgetown landmark was offering a $40 three-course menu to close out the summer! The deal is available Sunday – Thursday until September 15th. Just mention the menu to your serve or download the deal on their website. As an FYI – the menu changes daily!
