Friday Roundup! Bobby Flay, Beer Fests, and Doing Good in Georgetown

Happy Friday, friends! This week was full of great openings, fabulous finds, and wonderful event announcements and I’m excited to be able to share a few of my favorites with you!

So, have a read, make some plans, and have a wonderful weekend! xo – KC

Bobby Flay Brings His Palace to DC

I’ve been loving celebrity chef Bobby Flay on Entourage this season and now he’s here in DC, opening his sixth Bobby’s Burger Palace this past week! I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but word on the (K) Street is that his Crunchburger (topped with potato chips) is delicious.  Plan Ahead: Great Events Coming Your Way!

Is Beer the new Wine? The Mid-Atlantic Craft (MAC) Brew Fest would like to think so! This event, being held on October 15th at downtown Sphinx Club, is DC’s first-ever true craft beer festival.  With over 100 craft beers from 34 local breweries including DC Brau, Chocolate City, Lost Rhino, and Port City Brewing, you definitely won’t want to miss it! Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. on September 7th!

Art is so much better when it’s paired with food, no?  The Phillips Collection and the Sofitel Washington D.C. Lafayette Square are showcasing Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party, with a special installation and French culinary experience in honor of the museum’s 90th anniversary through the month of September.  Enjoy prix fixe Renoir-inspired menus at iCi Urban Bistro or a “Luncheon of the Boating Party” weekend hotel package, both of which include tickets to see 90 Years of New: Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party and European Masterworks, on view at the Phillips Sept. 2 through Dec. 31, 2011. If you’re an artsy foodie – check it out!

Do Good and Look Fabulous in Georgetown

Local Haughty Cosmetics founder Michelle Coyle Edwards isn’t just making a difference in your makeup bag, but also in the world.  Her luxury makeup line, which announced this week that it is expanding its fabulous lip-gloss line with seven new shades, donates 50% of all profits to domestic violence prevention education.  You can find her amazing collection of good-doing Perfect Finish products at Charm Georgetown (and while you’re there, I recommend you shop around – Charm has fabulously fun and chic jewelry!)
