Chalk this under life’s simple pleasures: a glass of wine, a seat outside, and some fantastic Italian food. Last week, Craig and I stopped by Chef Roberto Donna’s new Northwest DC spot, La Forchetta, and had a simply fabulous evening. You may remember Chef Donna from his days at Galileo III, which closed due to some unfortunate legal woes. That said, the James Beard award-winning chef is back at it, creating an amazing menu full of Italian small plates comprised of house-made pastas, risotto, fresh fish, and awesome Neapolitan pizzas. My favorites: the pancetta wrapped stuffed dates with honey-balsamic drizzle, the scallops, and salted cod mantecato. And save room for dessert – their Cartoccio Siciliano, or as our waiter called it, the “sexy cannoli,” is absolutely worth the three extra miles you’re going to have to run in the morning. Check it out – you won’t be disappointed! Buon appetito!
