Depending on how you look at it, I have good or bad news. If, like me, you’ve had about enough of DC’s infamous summertime humidity, it’s good news. If you haven’t had your fill of far-too-hot weather just yet, it’s not so good news. Either way, summer is almost over, which means a fabulous collection of fall events are on their way. Here are a few of my favorites. Get those calendars out!
District Sample Sale: One of my favorite shopping events of the year – not only because you can get some fabulous looks for a very cool discount, but also because the proceeds go to charity! DSS features over 20 top designer clothing and shoe boutiques selling their end-of-season wares at liquidation-level prices, with many previewing their upcoming season looks at DDS-exclusive pricing. Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from participating restaurants, a fashion-focused silent auction, raffle, goodie bag (with VIP tickets) and more. There’s nothing more fabulous than shopping for a good cause. Tuesday, September 11th; 5:30 – 6:30 VIP Hour ($100) | 6:30 – 9:00 General Admission ($40). http://www.districtsamplesale.com/
Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine Culinary Evening: Park Hyatt Washington will host the Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine, a seasonal culinary experience saluting the ingredients, flavors, and talents of local chefs, regional producers, and American winemakers. This special gastronomic Park Hyatt Masters event will present a five-course ‘Masters’ dinner, complemented with a selection of rare and unique wines from Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, California. Translation: Yum. Saturday, September 22nd, $155 per person, Reservations: email@example.com; www.mastersfoodandwine.com
Art Soiree: 3rd Annual Midsummer Nights Dream: Jazz up your Sunday Funday at the Georgetown Waterfront this weekend with Art Soiree’s annual Midsummer Nights Dream Event. Art Soiree, Nick’s Riverside Grill, Tony & Joe’s Restaurant, Roche Salon, MRP Realty at Washington Harbour, and a group of talented local artists will be using the magic of art to transform the heart of Georgetown into an enchanted wonderland featuring a fantasy body painting show and live performances. I really have no other words for this event. Just go – it’ll be fabulous. Sunday, August 12th, 7pm $15 in advance, $20 at the door. http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3953334530/epgPR
